“Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God.”
(Hebrews 6:1 ESV)

No more elementary faith; no more elementary sin.

Now that you are growing in your relationship with God it is time to lay behind childish things. The sins that you are dealing with in your life may seem insurmountable to you at times, but they are tinker-toys to God. If you are really going to grow in your love and life for Christ, you must choose to fight a winning battle with sin.

One of the passages you need to read and re-read in verse 6 of Hebrews chapter 6 which says, “Because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to public disgrace”. If you think about that and truly let it sink into your heart, you will realize that the sin you and I so easily indulge in is a sin that Crucifies Christ again! Allow that to break your heart to the point of repentance. Realize that sin is an abomination to God himself, His love, and His forgiveness to us. Live for Him with your whole life. Don’t become lazy. Don’t apathetically accept your sin. Declare war on it so that you may be at home with Jesus.

Write out an action plan on how you are going to declare war on the repeated sins in your life. Seriously. Do it now.

Bottom line:

“If you are not at war with sin then you are not at home with Jesus.”  – John Piper
